Unequal opportunities for education limit the scope of dreams
and solidify and sustain gaps between rich and poor.

Inequality is not a natural state. It is a system built by a polarized society.
Will we really pass on the responsibility for solving this problem of unequal opportunities for education to the next generation?

Educational opportunities become a wall, not a ladder of hope

The amount spent on private education by high-income families is some 20 times that spent by low-income families.

An average of 7 out of every 10 Korean teenagers receive private education, but one half of students from low-income families are unable to receive any private education.

With academy fees costing more than 315 USD per subject, children from low-income families can only afford to study at home or take classes online.

This severe gap in academic expenses depending on income means that children experience the problem of educational polarization firsthand and emotionally.

JUMP is a ladder to help young people climb over these gaps in education together with their communities.
We strive to restore opportunities to dream and experience.

We help talented young people and university volunteer/young adults interact
and learn the meaning of sharing and true consideration while instilling practical skillsand self-confidence.
Won’t you help us all grow together?

“25 USD per month”

With just 200 sponsors we can provide fair educational opportunities for one year
to 50 university volunteer teachers and 200 teenagers.

Fair educational opportunities
If you pledge just 25 USD per month

For 200 teenagers
We can provide long-term educational opportunities on an individual level based on sincere relationships.

  • 1 university volunteer teachers/young adults instructor for 4 teenagers
  • Tailored education : 6 hours/week, 240 hours/year (6 hours x 20 weeks x 2 terms)
  • Participation in career camp, arts and culture events, etc.

For 50 university volunteer teachers/young adults
We can provide various types of career mentoring to help youths grow as balanced, talented, community-minded people and form a virtuous circle of sustainable sharing.

  • 10-16 small group mentoring sessions, 2-3 large group mentoring sessions, and 1:1 mentoring with 1-2 mentors per year
  • During the activities : scholarships, education, training, networking, etc
  • After completion : language study·certificate education, special youth loans, arts and culture events, etc

The most successful virtuous circle JUMP looks for is

that created when teenagers, university volunteer/young adults, and professional mentors meet and practice learning and sharing what they’ve learned with society.
This gives rise to further sharing, much like a butterfly effect, so that ultimately an ecosystem is built in which all can have opportunities for fair learning without discrimination or bias and for growth.

JUMP’s virtuous circle has already begun to form.

Expansion of fair educational opportunities through cooperation between teenagers, SAMs/young adults, and
mentors from community creates meaningful change in our society.

We hope the children we teach will also grow up to be mentors.

When I studied with my JUMP university student teacher in secondary school, I thought the teachers were so cool and envied them. Now that I'm a full-fledged university student myself, I work together with the children at the learning center I studied at! I am so grateful to all the JUMP teachers who taught me so well. I hope the children I taught will grow up to mentor someone else.

Nadya Chen, H-JUMP School 1st-4th term teen participant, 5th term University Volunteers

That one year really changed me!

The year I spent as a university volunteer together with my mentee, mentor from society, and fellow university volunteer teachers was deeply meaningful and a turning point for me. The way I see and feel toward other people living in this society with me has changed a great deal since before I joined H-JUMP School. I think that sponsorship isn't a matter of helping because I've done better or know better than anyone, but rather of sharing even a little of what I have from an equal position.

I believe they will definitely change our society

I think these people who create change together with JUMP also create a better society, and that’s why I want to know more about JUMP and want to work together with it. Through education, the reasons we live together, how we live together, and what we practice in this small community take on a deeper meaning and become more beautiful.
The children and young adults working together with JUMP will clearly grow into good members of this society with the power to recover from any wound they may sustain, and when I see those children, I believe they can change other people as well. I believe they will definitely change our society.
